Empowering Your Journey: Counseling San Luis Obispo

You feel alone and overwhelmed with anxiety

You’re overwhelmed with anxiety and self-doubt. Your heart races, your chest tightens, your stomach churns, and you don’t know how to ask for help. You feel like a fraud, with the nagging belief that you will never be good enough. Then you remind yourself that lots of people in the world have it way worse than you do. That’s when the guilt and shame really sets in. You beat yourself up for being ungrateful and weak, and for not just “getting over it.”

You need someone who understands the anxiety and stress and won’t add more to your to-do list. You need tools and strategies that work, that will actually help you feel better when you leave the session. You need someone to help you take your brain from constantly living in fear, worry, and self-doubt and into a place of calm.

San Luis Obispo therapist Andrea Bey, LMFT

Hi! I’m Andrea Bey and I’m a San Luis Obispo counselor on the Central Coast of California who loves working with women. I have a knack for handling anxiety, stress, past trauma, and feelings of unworthiness. I am trained and certified in EMDR therapy and I will tailor my approach to best meet your individual needs. I’ll walk beside you on your journey to a better life.

I’m a wife, a bonus mom, and a devoted dog mom. I've wanted to become a therapist since I was 16 years old, inspired by my own therapy experience where I felt deeply understood and valued. I'm very passionate about my work and I’d be honored to support you on your healing journey.

You don’t have to suffer in silence or go through this alone. Give me a call today at (805)225-4495 for a free 15-minute consultation. I currently provide online therapy (for those living in CA) from the comfort of your own home.

My Credentials and Experience

I grew up in Arroyo Grande, California, and earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Cal Poly State University. For close to a decade I worked at a local non-profit agency supporting youth and families heal following various types of trauma, loss, and placement disruptions. While working at the agency I concurrently continued my education and earned a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in Santa Barbara, CA. I am now a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT 115208) and work full-time with my private practice clients doing online therapy.

I have a strength-based and client-centered approach. I incorporate interventions from a variety of therapy modalities including EMDR Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), attachment theory, and mindfulness. I am EMDR therapy trained and certified (EMDR is short for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy). EMDR Therapy is an evidence-based treatment for PTSD, and it’s also very effective in treating issues related to anxiety, stress, shame, childhood trauma, and all types of distressing experiences.
